Today is the day you need to accept the change welling up within you. Now, you need to make up your mind that it’s time to let go of all the hurt and negativity. Until you truly let go of the things holding you back, you won’t be able to make any significant change or make real progress with your life. The reality of life is that change is never easy, and most times we fight to hold onto the very things keeping us captive. You don’t need to keep clinging onto hurtful memories, learn to let go of things that does not give you the opportunity to become the best version of yourself.

Here are seven (7) things you should let go of.

1. Let go of the pain

Most times, it is almost impossible to let go of the pain because it can be both emotional and physical. Pain can deprive you of a true glance of yourself. Pain makes you wallow in shame, regrets, disgust and all sort. It denies you from recognizing your true identity. Holding onto your pain will not change anything. It will not fix the divorce or bring back a dead loved one. What’s broken is already broken, you don’t have to mourn or keep dwelling in pain. The more you keep living in pain, the more the pain deepens. Let go of the pain.

2. Your mistakes

If you must look towards a brighter future, you must first acknowledge your mistakes, learn from them and accept the lessons it teaches. Taking responsibility for your mistakes will help you quickly let go of your mistakes. It doesn’t matter that you made a terrible decision on something so delicate, what matters is learning from your mistakes and taking responsibility for your actions. Above all be more empathetic towards yourself because your mistakes do not define you.

3. Unnecessary baggage

If you want to quickly go up the mountain, you must free yourself from all the unnecessary baggage that pulls you down. Let go of any unnecessary emotional, physical and mental baggage stunts your growth; be it shame, guilt, unforgiveness, fear, doubt, losses, regrets, or resentments. It is time to let them all go. You can’t possibly embrace a new life full of adventure when you still cling to past unnecessary baggage. The new relationship you try to nurture will fail when you still drown in heartbreak and hurt of the last one. Let go of all unnecessary baggage in order to allow yourself to move onto greater heights.

4. Your insecurities

It’s your insecurities that speaks when you start thinking that you don’t have what it takes to fit in a class or a particular level. You need to stop doubting your potentials. Stop looking down on yourself. You are enough just the way you are. Let go of the feelings of inadequacy and stop being insecure about your authentic self. Love yourself, feel good about yourself and resist the negative energy people force on you. Allow only positivity in your space.

5. Let go of your fears

Everything you want is on the other side of fear. The life you want is live is on the other side of your fears. Take total control of your life by facing your fears. Never accept your current situation especially when you can do something about it. Don’t let fear overcome you. Focus on the outcome of your decisions and not the scary feeling it gives. Keep your faith up and face your fears in a brave manner. It could be fear of failure, fear of a new relationship or fear of taking a calculated risk. Dare yourself to take a different course always. Let go of your fears.

6. Your excuses

Stop making excuses. Excuses highlights your unproductiveness. Take responsibility and stop building failure with your pile stack of excuses. Discipline yourself to be productive even on situations where it might look like a bother to you. Excuses leads to self limiting beliefs and massive regrets. Stop making excuses and always playing the victim in situations. Embrace your truth and do the right things always by taking responsibility.

7. Comfort zone

Your comfort zone will steal your dreams. Nothing grows in your comfort zone. Get comfortable with being uncomfortable; that is when real growth begins. Step out of your comfort zone today! If you want to discover what you are truly great at, you have to let go of what makes you too comfortable. Do things you don’t feel comfortable doing. Deal with new changes. Be ready to take on new challenges and scale through them.
