7 Ways to Overcome Your Insecurities

Insecurity kills everything that is beautiful. Your insecurities will always get in the way of everything you want if you don’t learn to overcome them. If you don’t overcome your insecurities, they will creep into every other aspect of your life and taint them with fear.

Overcoming your insecurities is something you must tackle consciously. Consciously confronting your insecurities will help you overcome them. It is possible to overcome your insecurities, but you must be prepared to make some lifestyle changes. Overcoming your insecurities is a process that demands you to make some lifestyle changes.

Here are seven (7) effective ways to overcome your insecurities;

1. Consciously challenge your emotions.

Train your mind to be stronger than your emotions. In order to overcome your insecurities, you must understand that it is normal human nature to want to avoid life’s problems. You won’t normally pray for problems to come to you. If you have your way, you would avoid any problem that comes as possible as you can. But most times, avoiding a problem won’t make it go away. You need to be prepared to do the needful in order to overcome your insecurities.

Grow through what you go through. Don’t shy away from difficulties and setbacks. Have the courage to face whatever areas of your life that needs changing.

2. Overcome negative self-talk.

The things you say to yourself on a daily basis will either build you up or break you down. Your beliefs about yourself and how you perceive life will help you overcome your insecurities.

If you always see yourself as a timid person, weak and not worthy enough to achieve success, you will always fall a victim of circumstances. This mindset will keep you in bondage and will prevent you from achieving anything meaningful with your life.

Break free from the negative patterns that keeps you in bondage. Overcome negative self-talk by constantly telling yourself positive things. Wake up in the morning and tell yourself that you are bright, praiseworthy and self-confident.

No one is Perfect. Sometimes people think that the only way they will be worthy of love is unless they do everything perfect. You will never be able to overcome your insecurities if you always try to be perfect at everything.

Sometimes, it is okay to make mistakes. Learn to give yourself the permission to fail without condemning yourself. You are human and not a robot. Only robots do things perfectly, and that is because they are programmed. You have the free will to do as you like.

Learn to give yourself the permission to fail and grow. If you never fail, you will never learn; and if you never learn you will never grow. Overcome your insecurities by not always trying to be perfect.

4. Face your fears.

Don’t be a slave to your fears. You must learn to face your fears rather than letting them limit you. The greater one lives within you. Within you is where your inner strength lies.

As you work on overcoming your insecurities, give yourself the permission to feel insecure. Don’t hide from the things that make you afraid. Embrace your fears, for they won’t break you, but transform you in a stronger person. They will help push you out of your comfort zone and propel you to take actions that will change your life for the better.

Rather than trying to avoid your insecurities, ask questions like; “are my insecurities based on facts, or do they reveal areas of personal growth I need to change?”

6. Change your perspective.

Learn to see life from a different perspective. Not everything is as it seems. Your insecurities can make you begin to see life from a distorted point of view. In order to balance your perspective, you must recognize your feelings and verify them with solid proofs.

In order to overcome your insecurities, always keep an open mind and welcome new information that comes to you. Don’t jump into conclusion without verifying the facts. Replace all false information you believe in with healthy information. Information is power. As you see the big picture, your insecurities will diminish.

7. Be prepared to face obstacles.

Prepare for the worst but hope for the best

Most times, the greatest obstacles usually come from within, when you are working on overcoming your insecurities. Even after recognizing and overcoming your limiting beliefs, negative self-talk and perfectionism, you will still encounter challenges in your journey.

Someday, you may bump into an ex-partner and begin to recall why they made you feel so insecure, or end a relationship with a current partner and find it hard to let go of the past. You could decide to pay your family a holiday visit and that old negative self-talk brings back those old memories you buried in the past.

You need to understand that in life, anything worth doing will definitely not be easy. Be prepared for the worst but hope for the best. You will definitely encounter stumbling blocks when trying to overcome your insecurities, but don’t let them deter your progress.

Don’t give up when your back is against the wall. Be prepared to face obstacles for they are nothing but stepping stones that will usher you to greater height. Turn your obstacles into opportunities that will help you achieve your goals. When you prepare yourself to face anything that comes your way, you will find it very easy to overcome your insecurities
