How to Face Your Fears

The best things in life are on the other side of your fears. You will not be able to live your life to the fullest until you let go of the things that are causing you to fear. Fear has two meanings: forget everything and run or face everything and rise.

At some point in life, you have to face your fears. The fears you don’t face become your limits. Don’t be afraid to do the things you have always wanted to do. The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek. If you want to overcome your fears, don’t seat idle thinking about the things you fear. Go out and get busy. Thinking will not overcome fear but action will. To reach your greatest potential you will have to face your greatest fears.

Here are five (5) ways to face your fears;

1. Don’t stay idle.

An idle mind is the devil’s workshop. When you are idle and have nothing to do, your mind will begin to harbor negative thoughts. All manner of negative thoughts will begin to creep in your mind when you are idle.

If you have a dream to do something, go out and get busy. Don’t stay idle. Idleness will breed fear which will eventually push you into doing something negative. Face your fears by keeping yourself busy. Don’t entertain any form on negativity. See your fears as fuel to achieve everything you want in life. When negative thoughts start creeping in your mind, don’t entertain them. Get working.

2. Don’t try to be perfect.

No one is entirely perfect so don’t try to be. Just try to be better than you were yesterday. If you always try to be perfect, you will be disappointed when you eventually make a mistake. Always trying to be perfect will prevent you from taking actions that will change your life for the better because of fear of falling short of perfection.

You don’t always have to be perfect. All you have to do is show up and enjoy the messy, imperfect and beautiful journey of your life. You were born to be real not to be perfect. As you quit always trying to be perfect in everything you do, you will begin to live a happy and peaceful life void of fear.

3. Don’t judge yourself.

It is easy to judge yourself when you fall short of doing the right things. Don’t judge yourself by your past or by the opinion of others. You are not the same person you were yesterday so it will be wrong to judge yourself by your past.

Whatever happened in the past is dead and gone, so don’t judge yourself. When you look back at your past and judge yourself, fear will begin to build up in you. You will begin to fear that you might never be able to get better or do things differently than you did in the past. Your fears will keep you trapped in the past, prevent you from living in the moment and disrupt any plans of a better future.

4. Always cultivate positive thoughts.

Negativity can only bring you down when you vibrate at its frequency. No matter the situation you find yourself, always cultivate positive thoughts. When challenges arise, don’t fear. Challenges are not meant to break you but to refine you. When you find yourself in a situation that seems out of your control, don’t respond in a negative matter. The moment you start thinking negatively about your situation, fear will creep in and cripple you.

Always cultivate positive thoughts. When you find yourself thinking in the negative direction, quickly change your thoughts to something positive that you appreciate that gives you peace of mind. Your life will go in the direction of your thoughts. If you don’t want your life to be filled with negativity, you must learn to cultivate positive thoughts.

5. Learn from your mistakes.

If you don’t learn from your mistakes, then they become regrets. It’s not the mistake you made that matters. It’s how you deal with it, what you learn from it, and how you apply that lesson to your life. You can learn great things from your mistakes when you are not busy denying them.

No matter how big the mistake you made was, forget it but remember the lesson. If you never really learnt anything from your past mistakes, you will keep making the same mistake over and over again until you learn. Refusing to learn from your mistakes will invite fear in you. You will be afraid when similar past situations present themselves because you didn’t learn the lessons you were supposed to.

Face your fears by learning from your mistakes. Nothing in life is to be feared only to be understood. All your problems will resolve themselves when you start living your life without fear.
