Things don’t happen to you; they happen for you. Everything that happens in your life happens for a reason. The reason causes change. Sometimes it hurts. Sometimes it’s hard. But in the end it’s all for the best.
Sometimes the bad things that happen in our lives put us directly on the path to the best things that will ever happen to us. Don’t let whatever you are experiencing get the best of you. When something bad happens, you have three choices to make.
Here are three (3) choices to make when bad things happen;
1. Let it define you.
Don’t let circumstances define you. Your current situation may seem so bad that you feel pressured to give in to negativity. No matter the circumstance you find yourself in life, don’t be compelled to act in a negative way. Whatever situation you find yourself in life, don’t give up and don’t give in to the pressure for they will surely pass.
Refuse to allow circumstances define how your life should go. Don’t let your situation define who you are. Only you have the power to define yourself. You have the power to dictate your destiny.
2. Let it destroy you.
No matter how unfair the past has been to you, don’t let it destroy your future. The very thing that was meant to destroy you can actually become the same thing that God uses to build you into the person He wants you to be. The storm that was sent to break you, is what will be used to make you if you refuse to be consumed by fear.
When bad things happen, you can either get better or get bitter. You can either take what has been dealt to you and allow it to transform you into a better and stronger person, or allow it to tear you down. The choice is yours to make.
3. Let it strengthen you.
Courage is not having the strength to go on. It is going on when you don’t have the strength. Strength isn’t always show in what you can hold on to, sometimes it is shown in what you can let go of.
No matter how hurtful the past was, let it go so that you can find the strength to move on. You will keep living in the past as long as you keep holding on to past experiences.
When bad things happen, don’t let it break you down, but strengthen you. You are much stronger than you think you are; you are a survivor. You have survived a whole lot and you can survive whatever comes next.
Why do bad things happen to good people?
When bad things happen to good people, it is really not because they deserve it. When you learn to see that things don’t happen to you, but for you, you will begin to see things differently. Most times, it is the result, not the cause of pain that makes some experiences of pain meaningful and others destructive.
There is a lesson to be learnt from every situation that presents itself. When you focus on the lesson, you will be able to grow through what you go through; but when you focus on the pain, it will destroy your life.
If you still wonder why bad things happen to good people, it is because God knows they are strong enough to handle it. What do you think?
