Things That Blocks Your Happiness

Your happiness matters a lot. When you keep reliving painful experiences of the past, you put yourself on hold of every good thing life has to offer; true love, happiness, opportunities, true friends etc. You deprive yourself from enjoying the wonderful gift of being here and now; being in the present. There is hardly any future for the one who clings to the past. Life is a balance of holding on and letting go. In order to be truly happy, you should know when to let go of the past. Don’t waste moments thinking about the past. Don’t worry about the things you couldn’t change. Worrying too much blocks your own happiness.

Take a look at four (4) things that blocks your happiness;

1. Guilt.

No one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. The reason why most people find it hard to let go of their past is because of their inability to forgive themselves for the way things turned out. Life is only ten (10) percent of what happens to you. The remaining ninety (90) percent depends on how you deal with the situation. When you keep blaming yourself for the past, it shows you are not ready to move on. No one can cross that bridge for you but yourself. You have to shake off all the guilt and let go of the past. Give yourself a chance to be happy again. Forgive yourself.

2. Lack of self-love.

Love is the essence of our existence. It is the reason we exist; to love and be loved. You can’t express true love without truly loving yourself first; you can’t give what you don’t have. You must learn to love yourself, in order to know how to express true love to others. Lack of self-love deprives you of your freedom and peace of mind. It gives you the impression that you aren’t good enough for anything. When you believe you aren’t good enough for anything, you start making mistakes in everything you try to accomplish. To experience true happiness, you must learn to love yourself.

3. Trying to be perfect.

Like we said earlier, no one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes and sometimes we fall short of doing the right things. This is what makes us human. Trying to always be perfect can sometimes be harmful to us humans. Especially when we try to meet up with certain expectations and can’t. It gives one the feeling of not being good enough. You don’t need to be perfect all the time. Most times, we find out that we learn the important lessons of life from failure and defeat than from success and victories. The most important thing is being able to utilize the lessons learned. In order to be truly happy, you must stop living a façade by always trying to be perfect and just be you.

4. Negative self-talk.

Our life goes in the direction of the things we think and say to ourselves. We are a reflection of our thoughts and emotions. Be careful what you say to yourself, because you are always listening. Life responds to the things you say to yourself either positively or negatively. When you talk to yourself in a negative way, your life will be filled with failures, bad attempts and poor performances. You will be overwhelmed by how unfavorable your life can be. But when you talk to yourself in a positive way, you will attain more favorable outcomes. What you say to yourself and about yourself is very important. It can either make you or mar you. Don’t be the reason you aren’t happy. Don’t talk to yourself in a negative way. Always be positive.
