Commitment means staying loyal to what you said you were going to do, long after the mood you said it in had worn off. When you stay committed to a cause, it builds your character. It gives you a sense of discipline. Commitment makes you more honest with yourself. Your willingness to be completely honest with yourself is the real measure of your character. It sets the tone in which people relate with you. It makes people hold you in high regards. When you stay committed to yourself or a cause, it opens you to a world of various opportunities to exploit.
Take a look at four (4) ways to stay committed;
1) Catch the vision: Firstly, you need to catch the vision. See the bigger picture. Think of how you can make an impact in other people’s life. You need to understand that life is not all about you, but how you can offer help to others. With this mindset, you will get to understand that you are only a conduit to offer assistance to other people. This calls you to your higher purpose. When you find out that your purpose in life is to help other people become better, it gives you a sense of responsibility which keeps you committed to your cause. Get the right idea. Catch the vision.
2) Trust the process: When you catch the vision, you need to firmly hold onto it. Don’t let yourself get distracted during the process. A lot of things will happen to prevent you from staying committed to your cause. Most times we find a lot of people giving up on their dreams and goals because of the challenges they face during the process. When you learn to trust that everything happens for a reason, you will find peace knowing that your life is going in the right direction. Don’t ever forget why you started. Always remember that the journey is just as important as the destination. Trust the process.
3) Stay focused on your goals: Stay focused. Starve your distractions and feed your focus. Don’t look in any direction but ahead. Don’t waste your time and energy on anything that doesn’t bring you closer to your goals. Make a habit of looking forward and never look back. There is no reason to look back when you have so much to look forward to. Let go of anything that tries to steal your focus so that you can keep making progress. When you stubbornly stay focused on your goals, it quiets all the outside noise, leaving you fully committed to the task at hand. Stay focused on your goals. Keep looking forward and never look back.
4) Be accountable: You are always responsible for the way you act, no matter how you feel. You must learn to always hold yourself accountable. Accountability is the glue that ties commitment to result. When you always take responsibility for your actions, it makes people treat you with respect. It makes you appear more trustworthy and reliable. In order to achieve your desired results in life, you must take the necessary actions that will get you the results. Whichever way it goes, review the areas that needs improvement and make effective changes. Always hold yourself accountable.
