How to Be Mentally and Emotionally Strong

You have to train your mind to be stronger than your emotions or else you will lose yourself every time. If you don’t learn to control your mind, your mind will control you, and will compel you to act in a negative way. Once you are able to control your mind at will, you will be able to accomplish anything you set your mind to achieve.

Your mind is very powerful that whatever consumes it, controls your life. When you fill your mind with positive thoughts, your life will start to change for the better. Likewise, if all that consumes your mind are negative thoughts, you will keep experiencing difficulties and setbacks and you will find it impossible to accomplish any task you plan to do.

Take a look at five (5) ways to be mentally and emotionally strong;

1. Let go of the past.

Whatever happened in the past that made you so bitter about life, will keep screwing up your chances of living a purposeful life the more you cling to the past. Life is too short to keep living in the past. Living in the past will prevent you from truly living in the moment. You will never be able to truly appreciate the gift of the present the more you cling to the past.

Let go of the past. Don’t let your past experiences deprive you of living your life to the fullest. If you don’t break free from the negative patterns that keeps drawing you back to the past, you will never be able to live a purposeful life.

2. Live in the moment.

When you try to control everything, you enjoy nothing. Sometimes you just have need to relax, breathe, let go and live in the moment. Whatever happened in the past is out of your control and there is practically nothing that can be done about it.

To be mentally and emotionally strong you need to learn to live in the moment and enjoy the present. You won’t be able to truly live in the present until you let go of the past. The past can’t be changed so live in the moment and focus on only the things you can control.

3. Be kind to yourself.

You are your most valuable asset. No one understands you better than you understand yourself. You can never speak to anyone more than you speak to yourself in your head, so it is important to always be kind to yourself. Don’t beat yourself up whenever you make a mistake or do something wrong. Learn to encourage yourself to keep moving forward.

If ever you feel mentally and emotionally down, always remind yourself that you are doing the absolute best you can. Don’t hate yourself for your shortcomings. Always remember that no one is entirely perfect. Be kind to yourself, you are more than good enough.

4. Don’t compare yourself to others.

Everyone has a purpose in life. Everyone has their own race to run. Life is a journey not a destination, so don’t compare yourself to others because you have no clue what their journey is all about.

Comparison steals happiness. The more you compare yourself to others, the less you see how unique and special you are. You shouldn’t be comparing yourself to others. The only person you should compare yourself with is the person you were yesterday. Strive to become the best version of yourself. You are your only competition.

5. Forget what people think about you.

If you keep paying attention to what other people think about you, you will not be able to live your life to the fullest. Forget what people think about you and do whatever makes you happy.

Do not deny who you are, or who you aspire to become just because someone has a problem with it. This is your life and you are solely responsible for it. When life hits hard, you are the one that takes the punches not others, so forget what they think about you. If they don’t inspire you to become the best version of yourself, let them go. What people think about you doesn’t matter. It’s what you think about yourself that truly matters.

Amazing!! I’m learning to be kind to myself. Most times we treat ourselves unfairly and beat ourselves up when things don’t go the way we planned. I know that I’m doing the best I can with what I have so I need to be kinder to myself 😌
